Kasargod: Dead body of Kumble ASI Narayana Naika (52) found

Kasargod, Jul 21: The body of Kumble station ASI Narayan Naika(52) who was washed away with his bike at Adooru Pallathuru hanging bridge four days ago was found at a distance of three kilometres from the place of the incident this afternoon, on Tuesday July 21.

The body was found after an intense search by the local people. Diving experts, police and fire brigade staffs were also part of the search till Monday evening, but the body was not found.

The incident had occurred on Saturday evening, July 18. The ASI was washed away when he was crossing the Pallathur bridge after going home. The heavy rain had deterred search operations. Police had requested the help from Coimbatore diving experts.

Narayan Naika had joined the police force in 1984 and after serving in Badiadka, Adooru, Bedadka, Manjeshwar and Kasargod was recently promoted as Kumble station ASI.

The mortal remains of ASI Narayana Naika was kept in the premises of Kasargod Armed Reserve police for a few minutes after postmortem at Kasargod General Hospital.

Senior Police officials, people representatives and citizens paid their last respects.

It was later taken to his hometown Adooru where his last rites were performed.

Kumble station ASI Surendran had died of heart attack on Friday.
