Mangaluru: Pana PU college by Shrividya commences

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 29: Pana Education, the new initiative of Shrividya Education Foundation, Mangalore, opened its doors to parents and scholars on June 19, with the commencement of Pana Pre-Uni College, located near Mangalore International Airport, Kolambe-Bajpe.

Keeping in line with its tag line of ‘be the change’, the small yet exciting orientation programme was rather unusual and different. The day’s programme began with a traditional Bharathanatyam dance, invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha followed by an insight into Pana and its core philosophy by the CEO of Pana Education, Jeevan D’Souza.

What made the day most interesting and unusual was a 'Sign-In, Start-Up' campaign, which began with a giant 'Pana Book' being signed first by the trustees of Shrividya Education Foundation–CA Rammohan Rai, Kirti Rai, Dr Prasad Hegde and Sneha Hegde, followed by the first scholar, associate and mentor of Pana Pre-Uni College. “We thought of doing something a little different to further emphasise our tagline to ‘be the change’. The signed ‘book’ symbolises the beginning of Pana Pre-Uni College and the very first chapter in its long and unending path to offer the best in education", said Usha Rao, COO of Pana education.

Taking forward its MADDS (Music, Art, Drama, Dance & Sport) initiative, a musical performance rendered by Apta Shetty,Namana Udupa, Janmitha Bangera, Ananya Kalbave, Vishal Nambiar and Pritish Nazareth,– students from six different schools, who are now part of Pana Pre-Uni College, came as quite a surprise, considering College was yet to begin, but its extra & co-curricular activity were already on! Another ‘Star’ of the day was also Aditi Sharma, whose Bharathanatyam performance was not short of brilliant.

Laying emphasis on Pana’s philosophy and the fact that Indians have forgotten traditional methods of teaching and learning, by adopting a complete western approach, Dr. Prasad Hegde took centre stage in the latter half of the programme. “We must make it a point to blend our ancient methods of teaching with modern methodology, techniques and technology. Human minds must be set free from the shackles of systematically programmed information that is fed in our schools, colleges and homes”, asserted Dr Hegde. The dean of Pana Pre-Uni College, Ramadas Arya, could not agree more and went on to add that values, morals, ethics and scruples are also part of education and must be part of a scholar’s life. “Our teaching process will be carried out at three levels involving the senior most professors who will be the guiding force for the middle order. Further, mentors with limited years of experience will carry out regular evaluation and assessment using advanced technology," said Arya, highlighting the process of disseminating knowledge at Pana .

After breaking the news that Pana Pre-Uni College is the first pre-university college in India to introduce Apple iPads in the classroom, on a one-to-one basis, D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks.

Enquiries for admission for the academic year 2016-2017 may be made at the Pana Pre-Uni College City Office, on SCS Hospital Road, Balmatta, Mangalore, or at its campus at Kolambe, Bajpe. Telephone enquiries can be made at 91 88 6131 3388 and 824 425 3388.
