Kasargod: All fair price shops in state to be computerized by 2016

Kasargod, Sep 12: Anoop Jacob, Kerala Minister of Food and Civil Supplies said that all the fair price shops in Kerala will be computerized within a year. He was speaking after inaugurating the office of Food and Civil Supplies in Bandyodu Mallangai.

“A total of 14,000 fair price shops will be computerized by the year 2016. The shops in two taluks each in a district will be computerized in the first stage. The Ahaara Suraksha Project will be strictly implemented. The steps to stop price rises have already been taken. The government has taken measures to make sure that the ration items reach all the citizens,” he said.

“Ration shops in some districts have been computerized on an experimental basis. The beneficiaries should obtain the ration items. It is necessary to do away with the menace of middlemen and black marketers. The modern system is being implemented in this connection,” he said.

“The renewal process of ration cards will be completed in December 2015. Those who have to apply for corrections may do so between October 5 and October 26, 2015. The customers are allowed to add names left out or correct other lapses,” he added.

MLA P B Abdul Razak, zilla panchayat president P P Shamaladevi, Manjeshwar block panchayat president Mumtaz Sameera, Mangalpadi panchayat-in-charge president Ali Master, Puthige panchayat president Chaniya, Varkady panchayat vice-president Aboobacker, Golden Rehman, Sathyan C, Faruk Shiriya, K P Valsaraj, Manikanta Rai, K P Abdul Rehman, Mohammed Rafik, district supply officer M V Vijayan, T Ramani, and T S Ravikumar were present.

The minister also inaugurated the office of Food and Civil Supplies provided for Vellarikundu taluk.
