Cuba reports new Zika case


Havana, March 20 (IANS): Cuban health authorities announced that a new case of the Zika virus infection has been detected in the country, the media reported on Sunday.

The fifth imported case of the Zika virus has been confirmed, said the ministry of public health on Saturday.

The 27-year-old patient arrived in Cuba on March 9 from Brazil, Xinhua news agency reported.

The patient, who was receiving treatment at the Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine in Havana, is reportedly in good condition.

Cuba has so far only registered one domestic Zika infection case - a 21-year-old woman.
