Kundapur, Oct 7: A huge rally was taken out on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to highlight unity and communal amity in Shankernarayana.

It was jointly organized by Kannada Association “Anubhava Mantapa” of Government First Grade College, its NSS wing and gram panchayat of Shankernarayana.

Shankernarayana police station sub inspector Suresh Kumar flagged off the rally which moved from the College and ended up in the gram panchayat premises with messages of unity and songs of patriotism.

A public meeting was held in the G S Achar Rangamandir. Rationalist and thinker Adamar Shripati Achar addressed the audience.

Shankernarayana College principal Prof M R Somayaji presided over the function. Lecturer Jayaprakash welcomed the gathering. Student Suchitra Shetty compered the programme. Another student, R Vidya, gave the vote of thanks.

The programme ended with a variety of entertainment.
