Bantwal, Oct 7: Heavy vehicular traffic on National Highway (NH) 48, en route to Bangalore via Hassan, has been banned partially, effective Sunday October 7, stated official sources.

The movement of heavy trucks including LPG tankers and trailers between Uppinangdy, Shirady and Hassan has been banned for four months, since the construction of barrier wall across the NH has begun from Sakleshpur, which lies on the range of Western Ghats, till Gundya while the light vehicular traffic would be allowed, stated official sources. 

Moreover the concreting the stretch of 1.8 kilometers of NH including 13 steep curves will be undertaken Immediately, while the rest of 22kms of NH will be undertaken thereafter, which would be completed in four months.  Hence, the heavy vehicular traffic between Hassan and Uppinangady will be banned till then.
