Mangalore, Oct 9:  A host of swamijis will take out a padayatra in the city on Wednesday October 10 at 3 pm demanding protection of “Rama Sethu” project.
 
Media persons were informed about the same at the press club here on Monday October 8 by the convenor of Sri Rameshwara Sri Rama Sethu Rakshana Smiti Jagadish Senava and president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Tulajaram. According to them the padayatra would start from Mangaladevi temple in Jeppu and Mariyamma Temple in Urwa and wind up at Sharavu Sri Mahaganapathi Temple.

Swamijis in two groups, one group from Mangaladevi temple and another from Marigudi temple, would walk and unite at Sharavu temple, as part of the protest opposing the proposed Rama Setu project .

Moreover, Kolya Swamiji, Odiyooru Swamiji, Kemaru Swamiji, Manila Swamiji, Vajradehi Swamiji and Karinja Swamiji would be participating in the padayatra and Swamijis from other Math are also expected to join the ‘walk’, informed Senava.

"Our movement would not cease, till the central government and Tamil Nadu government would give written assurance of either dropping the project or going for alternatives," he declared.

The committee is following a wait and watch policy and the walk is not undertaken in haste and the decision has been followed by hunger strike, Rameshwara Chalo, blockade of roads. Nearly 5000 ardent followers of Lord Rama would participate in the walk and till date thousands of followers of Rama have voluntarily registered their names, he added.

Ramesha S, president, Rama Setu Rakshana Samiti, Manohar Tulajaram, president VHP  and Dayananda Shetty, vice-president Rakshana Samiti were present at the press conference.
