Mangalore, Oct 9: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy's book awards were presented at a glittering ceremony held at Hubli on Sunday October 7. The programme was organized in association with Hubli GSB Association and Hubli Christian Association at Saraswati Sadan in Hubli.

‘Tambdi Mirsang,’ a collection of short stories written by Stan Agera Mulki, ‘Darbarantli Pirngonn,’ an anthology of poems by Vally Quadros Ajekar and ‘Kanun Darshan', a book written by Shirtady William Pinto were awarded the best. Judith Pinto (Translation), Aruna Shanbhag Hubli (Children's Stories) and Olivera Flavia Trasi (Poetry) were specially awarded at the function.

None of the awardees except Shitady William Pinto and Aruna Shanbhog could be present at the function.  Jacintha Olivera received the award on behalf of Olivera Flavia Trasi.

Anuradha Dhareshwar, Akashvani artist and Nagesh Shanbhog, retired officer of Akashvani were the chief guests present. Eric Ozario, president of Konkani Sahitya Academy presided over the function. Academy registrar S H Shivarudrappa was also present on the dais.

Later a Konkani music and dance programme ‘Konkani Sangeet Nrutya Vaibhav’ was held under the direction of Charan Kumar Mallya. At the same time, ‘Naach Sobhann’ presented fabulous dance programmes.
