Udupi, Oct 10: Gold-plated palanquin of Sri Anantheshwara temple at Manjeshwara has been made ready by ‘Swarnodhyama’ informed Ramdas Nayak, director,  Swarnodyama Gujjadi, here recently.

Addressing press persons he stated that the palanquin has been crafted and made at a cost of Rs 75 lac and is built on a wooden frame using Japanese technology. He further said that the palanquin is made by using 174 square foot of silver sheets weighing 55 kg and 3,900 sqft of golden sheets. On an average 10 layers, had been laminated on the same, Nayak added.

At the Swarnodhyama premises in Kelarkalabettu, the palanquin would be kept for public display on Tuesday, October 9 to Wednesday, October 10 and the golden palanquin would be taken to Manjeshwara temple on Friday, October 12.

Ramdas Nayak pointed out that the sincere and dedicated work of several gold-smiths for 700 days had given a face-lift to the palanquin. According to the designs provided by him goldsmiths Raghavendra Acharya from Kunjarugiri, Arjuna Acharya Krishna Acharya, Raghavendra Acharya from Karkala and others carried out the work on the palanquin and produced this exquisite piece, he informed.

On this occasion former managing trustee Anantheshwara Kamath, managing trustee of the temple Rathnakar Kamath, head of Swarna Jewellers Gujjadi Narasimha Nayak, Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak and trustee Devraya Kamath and Dinesh Shenoy were present.
