Udupi: Banker Ramamoorthy Receives K K Pai Award

Udupi, Nov 18: The ex-chairman of Corporation bank K R Ramamoorthy was presented the K K Pai National Award for Excellence in Banking, by H S Ballal pro-chancellor of Manipal Uiversity here recently. K M Udupa welcomed the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion after receiving the award, Ramamoorthy first expressing his appreciation stated that he felt greatly honoured on receiving the award.

After which in his speech he opined that in present times the banking segment was witnessing a dynamic growth in the country. And in keeping pace with the same the banking industry too had taken pro-active steps to keep pace with the changing times, he added.

According to B Sambamurthy, chairman and managing director of Corporation Bank, due to the Governments liberalization policy pursued in the 1990s, after which the banking industry started witnessing rapid growth, he pointed out.
 
Another speaker H S Ballal informed that it was K K Pai who was responsible for providing employment to young men and women during his tenure as the chairman and managing director of Syndicate Bank.

The function was presided over by the chairman and managing director of Syndicate Bank C P Swarnkar, who in his talks declared that the vision of banking leaders such as K K Pai had triggered the growth in banking industry.

 A book “Banking development from 1947 to 2007” written by the former chairman and managing director of Syndicate Bank D T Pai was also released on occasion by K K Pai.

Director of Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Research Centre H Krishna Bhat proposed the vote of thanks.
