Mangalore: Nihal Wins State Under 13 Boys Chess Championship

Mangalore Nov 19: DCS player Nihal Manjunath secured unbeaten 6.5 points in 7 rounds to clinch the title in State Under 13 Boys Chess Championship organized by SKDCA at Karnataka Bank Employees Association Hall, informed a press release issued by Deric Pinto, the administrator of Derik's Chess School here.on Sunday, Nov 18.


In Girls category, 8th seeded Vanessa D'souza of DCS bagged the Runner Up place with 4.5 points in 6 rounds. In each category top two players are selected to represent the State in the National-Under 13 Chess Championship. The boys at selected at Delhi and girls at Mumbai.


The release announced two of the 4 qualifying berths which were secured by DCS players.

It proudly mentioned the other credible performances by DCS players:
Girls:
3rd Place- Chrisel Pais- 4 points
6th Place- Andrea D'souza- 4 points

Boys:
6th pace- Adith Jagadish- 5.5 points
