Bangalore, Nov 21: Seking to distance himself from the JD(S) decision to vote out the BJP government, former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday said he is planning to float a party of his own.
"I am fed up with the affairs of national parties, including my party. I am seriously thinking to start a regional party," Kumaraswamy told without specifying whether he was disenchanted with his father and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's leadership of the JD(S).
JD(S) sources said Kumaraswamy is yet to discuss his new proposal with his father and expressed doubts whether the JD(S) patriarch would permit it.
Earlier, Kumaraswamy struck a discordant note over Deve Gowda's attempts to work out a new alliance with the Congress to form a government.
Gowda is currently in Delhi to hold talks with Congress leaders.
"This morning I spoke to my father, who is camping in Delhi, not to knock the doors of the Congress. Under the situation, it is better to dissolve the assembly and seek a fresh mandate," Kumaraswamy said.
Kumaraswamy opposes govt formation with Cong
Bangalore: Dissapproving his father H D Devegowda's attempts to form a new government in Karnataka in alliance with Congress, former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said he favoured dissolution of the state assembly and mid-term polls.
"This morning I spoke to my father, who is camping in Delhi and asked him not to knock the doors of Congress," Kumaraswamy said here.
"Under the current situation, it is better to dissolve the state assembly and seek a fresh mandate," he added.
Gowda, who is the leader of the JD(S), rushed to Delhi yesterday after directing his party MLAs to vote against the BJP government during the confidence vote, to explore possibilities of government formation with Congress.
Apparently sensing the public outcry against JDS for pulling down the BJP government headed by B S Yeddyurappa within a week of its installation, Kumaraswamy said there was no utility in forming another government with Congress support.
"We have already had enough with Congress and also with BJP. For what should we try to form another government? What people will think about us?" he said reacting to the Centre's decision to impose President's rule in the state and to keep the assembly in suspended animation."
The JDS brought down the Dharam Singh government in 2006 and later struck a 20:20 power sharing pact with BJP.
When JDS forged alliance with BJP, Gowda earlier opposed it but later defended the coalition and applauded the 'performance' of the Kumaraswamy government.
After the JDS-BJP coalition completed one year in office, Gowda sent signals that his party will not transfer power to the saffron party, a threat which he executed after Kumaraswamy's 20-month tenure was over.
The JDS leader did a U-turn on October 27, asking his son to pledge the party's unconditional support to BJP-led government after the saffron party launched a state wide campaign to expose JDS's acts of betrayal.
Gowda's decision to bring down the Yeddyurappa government on Monday was opposed by his party MLAs.
