Mangalore, Nov 21: Sangeetotsava –’07, a Carnatic music festival, will be organized by Sangeetha Parishath in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Mangalore University at Ravindra Kalabhavan in University College here from Friday November 30 to Sunday December 2, said Dr C R Ballal, president, Sangeetha Parishath.

He was speaking at press conference here on Tuesday November 20.

He further said that on November 30 the festival will begin at 4 pm with a pre-inaugural flute concert by upcoming artist from the city Archana Priyadarshini.
 
Raghavendra Shastri, managing trustee, Sharavu Mahaganapati Temple will inaugurate the said festival, he informed. The artiste S Nityashree Mahadevan from Chennai will later present vocal concert, he added.

Venugopal Shanbhogue from Kasargod will present solo violin concert at 4 pm on December 1, he said and added that this will be followed by vocal concert by T M Krishna from Chennai who will enthrall the music lovers at 6 pm.

The programme will begin at 9.30 am with a vocal concert by Sankari Krishnan on December 2. At 2 pm Meghana Murthy from Dakshina Kannada will present vocal concert.

Musician Shrinath Marate will be honoured on the occasion.

Subramnaya Samputa arasimha Mutt Pontiff Vidyaprasanna Theertha Swamiji will bless the occasion during on the valedictory function, Ballal informed.

P Jayaram Bhat, chief general manager, Karnataka Bank, K L Gopalkrishna, executive director, Corporation Bank and Prof K M Kaverappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University will be the chief guests, he said.
