Mangalore, Nov 22: The Engineering community of Mangalore should co-operate in the regularization of buildings in the City, urged Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) Krishnappa Poojary.

Speaking at the technical discussion on the Unauthorised Construction Regularisation Act -Sakrama 07, organized by the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) Mangalore Centre here on Wednesday, he requested them to bring forth their own suggestions regarding the publicity given to the regularization drive in the media or suggestions for improvising the programme. He also called for a discussion on the effectiveness of the act, loopholes if any and solutions for them.

Stating that more than 60 per cent of the constructions have violated the rules, he requested the engineers to find out what the public opinion regarding the regularization drive and the act is.

He also requested the engineers to participate in the survey works for regularization that needs to be completed before December 15.

He also requested the public not to take the regularization drive lightly, as the MCC and MUDA have every right to cut the electricity and water supply of those who do not regularize.

Mangalore Urban Development Authority Commissioner M K Ghadkar said that there are both administrative and technical aspects for the programme and while MCC and MUDA take care of the administrative aspects, the engineers have to look into the technical aspects.

He also said that MUDA is ready to conduct any number of camps to clear the doubts of the public.
MCC Town Planning Officer Balakrishna Gowda, Junior TPO of MUDA Shankar and MUDA Assistant Director for Town Planning Nazir Ahmed answered the queries put forth by the engineers regarding the drive and the act and complications associated with filing the application for regularisation.

Association President Rajendra Kalbavi, Secretary P Mukund Kamath and Treasurer Shankaranarayana K were among the present.

    Sir, Please be kind enough and don't t misguide with your quote "MCC & Muda have right to disconnect the water and electricity to entire building".  Additional unauthorised construction is due to the Builder and the neglect of the Authority and it is only correct to say the water & electricity to only unauthorised construction will be disconnected not of the whole building which has Occupancy certificate from you. Please get the Builder accountable especially the Builder of the Giri Apartments, Bejai where number of litigations are pending and irregularities exist. Thanks

    Unauthorised Construction Regularisation Act -Sakrama 07 is the brain child of Gowda family to make money.This act should be abolished.This act should go along with gowda family which become a big hinderence to the developement of our state. Unauthorised constructions should be demolished.By regularising unauthorised constructions we are making way more UA constructions , encroachments in future.
