Bengaluru, Nov 21: Former minister, B T Lalitha Naik, has noted that distressed men do not have anywhere to go to get their grievances addressed, and that they are not getting justice. She was speaking after initiating the programme of eighth national men's day celebrations organized at Legislators Home here on Saturday November 19, by Karnataka State Men's Protection Commission. She also opined that additionally, a 'men's welfare ministry' needs to be formed to extend protection to men facing problems. However, for this to happen, certain changes will have to be incoporated to the existing law, she added.

Naik noted that many women are misusing provisions of sections 125 of Criminal Procedure Code and 498 A, rape, and provisions relating to sexual harassment in offices covered by Indian Penal Code. She demanded to enforce strict provisions as per which those misusing these provisions should be awarded life term prison sentence.

Senior advocate, Prameela Nesargi, who participated as chief guest, noted that it is common for men and women to have differences of opinion and agreement on some issues. She advised the couples to develop the habit of adjusting to circumstances and address issues with mutual consent and consensus.
