Kannur, Dec 5: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi, a unit of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government Of India had arranged a nation wide competition inviting innovative projects on novel education practices in school education for teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan that spread out across the country and abroad. There are more than 1100 Kendriya Vidyalayas. As leader of the project team wherein two other teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya School, Kannur were participants, Sooryanarayana Bhat Saipangallu took part in the same, forwarding a project,'Cleanliness;not a dream but a drive' to KVS.

The project involved making the concepts of cleanliness and various aspects of swachatha an integral part of classroom teaching through academics, co-curricular activities, celebrations and orienting the students awareness programmes through watching videos, screening short films on cleanliness beside regular cleaning activities at school, home and the locality. Bhat was surprised to get a positive feedback from the parents and the students in particular as the practice is character building that may aid the countrymen to receive 'Clean India' title by 2019.

The project thus planned and implemented by me is honored with National Award for innovation and experimentation for the year 2015-16 on KVS Foundation Day, at New Delhi.
