Mangalore: City to have Mayor from Backward Community

Mangalore, Jan 25: The city will have a mayor from backward community (A) category, according to the final reservation chart for the posts of mayors and deputy mayors in urban local bodies released by the government.

The local body elections were held in September 2007.

The deputy mayor of the city is to be a woman from backward classes (B) category. Accordingly, BJP candidate Shankar Bhat cannot be the mayor.

The candidates for the post of mayor for Bangalore is to be from general category, and deputy from scheduled caste category.

    Sorry. This is not the way, the governance is done. Using, the backward communities, scheduled castes for their advantage by some self interested politicians, their advisors and those in the administration.

    Stop it. And those of you become mayors do not be puppets in the hands of these selfish people. Show your true color. Do not sign and stamp anything and everything, but stamp those who do not do right and justice under your feet. Work for the betterment of facilities at Mangalore. Take advise from people who are at the helm of affairs at various institutions, banks, Corporates. I am sure they will advise you correctly and whoever you are Mayor, you will be a successful Mayor.
