Udupi: Muzrai minister promises to form temple committees in three months

Udupi, Feb 10: State minister for muzrai and textiles, Rudrappa Manappa Lamani, visited Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple at Mandarthi in the district on Thursday February 9. He held discussions about the development prospects and plans of the temple with the concerned. He also visited the dining hall and kitchen of the temples and listened to grievances of employees.

The minister promised to extend his fullest cooperation for the all-round development of the temple. "We have fixed pay for the employees working in the temple as per schedule 8. Orders will reach the temples in a week. If there is a need, we will also permit appointment of additional workers," he stated.

The minister lamented the fact that the grants released in generous amounts to leading temples have not been properly utilized. "The temples which have not utilized the funds completely have been asked to submit report about the same within three months, and if the funds remaining with them are substantial, they have been advised to adopt smaller temples with lesser income, and spend money for their development. They will be given five years time to develop the respective temples, and this order will come out within a week or ten days. We are also introducing an app through which full details of temples located anywhere in the state will be available at one's fingertips," he stated.

On this occasion, temple priests, Vishwanath udupa and Srikant Adiga, felicitated the minister by draping a shawl around him and offering the Prasadam. President of temple managing committee, Dhananjay Shetty, executive officer, Ravi Kotaragasti, committee members, Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty, Gopal Naik, and others were present.

The minister later paid obeisance at Kota Amriteshwari temple on Thursday, where former managing committee president, Anand C Kunder, honoured the minister. Kota CA Bank president, Thimma Poojary, renovation committee members, Prabhakar Jogi and chandrashekhar Achar, Kota gram panchayat member, Chandra Poojary Kadrikattu and others were present.
