Kundapur, Feb 20: The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike launched a protest here against the removal of Kannada banners hung on both sides of the Municipal road from Shastri circle to Parijatha circle.
The activists of the forum including taluk president Suresh Poojary, secretary of the district unit Yakub Khadar Gulvadi, and the president and the vice president of Kundapur town unit submitted a petition against the arbitrary removal of the banners.
The banners had been put up for creating awareness among the town people as well as the people from the neighbouring villages for the need to protect the interest of Kannadigas.
They also condemned the indifferent attitude of the chief officer and his staff. A strong verbal exchange took place, which was later put to an end on intervention of sub-inspector M Jayantha Poojary.
