Bangalore: EC Team to Visit State on Apr 4

Bangalore, Apr 3: In order to review the poll preparations and arrangements, the Election Commission will be visiting the State on Friday April 4 ahead of the assembly elections to be held in May.
During this visit a full bench of the EC led by the chief election commissioner N Gopalaswami, will be holding a meeting with political parties.
This information was furnished by the State's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), deputy commissioners of districts and other officials during their recent meet, informed CEO M N Vidyashankar to press persons here after assuming new charge.
He further informed that in the course of the two days, the Commission will hold discussions with the chief secretary Sudhakar Rao and DGP K R Srinivasan and other top officials particularly with regard to the security arrangements to be made for the elections, he added.
Vidyashankar assumed charge on Tuesday, April 1 succeeding Rama Seshan who had opted for VRS.
Meanwhile, the EC in Delhi on Wednesday, April 2 announced that assembly elections in the State will be held in three phases on May 10, 16 and 22.
