Mangaluru: Hit by bus, bike-borne student dies at Haleangady

Mangaluru, Aug 1:  A bus collided with a motor bike near Saag, Haleangady, on national highway 66 on the morning of Monday July 31. Out of two students travelling by the motor bike, Shiyal Hassan (16) from Saag, Haleangady, who was riding the pillion, lost his life. Yousuf,  the other student, who was riding the two-wheeler, survived with serious injuries. He was admitted into a private hospital at Suratkal.

A private express bus moving towards the city from Udupi was involved in this accident. As the front wheel of the bus directly hit the motor bike, Shiyal, who was seated behind Yousuf, was killed on the spot. He had got admission into an engineering college at Moodbidri a month back, sources said.

On the basis of complaint filed by a local, Akbar Ali, a case was registered in the city (north) traffic police station, blaming the bus driver of rash driving.

MLAs, K Abhay Chandra Jain and Mohiuddin Bava, MLA, Ivan D'Souza, Congress leaders, Dhananjay Mattu, Vasanth Bernad, Sahul Hameed and others visited the house of the victim and condoled the youngster's demise.
