Mumbai, Jun 13: In what is definitely a unique feat, students and instructors of Ryan International Group of Institutions (RIGI) have obtained the Airtime Canada co-pilot’s license. They were felicitated at an event held at the Indian Merchant’s Chambers, in the city on Thursday, June 12.
The 11 school children are the youngest in India to have such a qualification in the field of aviation. The students, alongwith two instructors, were part of an aviation and leadership camp held in Vancouver, Canada.
Known as the basic aviation skills program, the initiative was held in association with School District 42 of Vancouver. The camp had the two-fold objective of providing students with hands-on experience of being a pilot as well as showcasing aviation as a possible career option in the future.
This aviation program has been in existence since 1994 and instructors from Pacific Rim Aviation Academy and was conducted at the Pitt Meadows Airport in Canada. The guides are well-trained and highly experienced, while the airplanes are maintained as per Canadian standards of safety and security.
RIGI, led by Dr A F Pinto, chairman, and Grace Pinto, managing director, has established friendship institutions across the globe which help promote such events to bolster students’ self-confidence and fine tune their leadership skills.
