Kundapur, Oct 29: The lifeless body of Sarvotham (26), resident of Kadrigudde area in Kenchanur village in the taluk was found from a cashew thicket at Kadrigudde on Saturday October 28. Sarvotham had left his home about a month back, telling the family members that he was leaving to work in a hotel at Bengaluru. Ever since he left, all contact with him had ended and the family was unable to contact him.

The body was found hanging from a tree. Sarvotham was working in a hotel at Bengaluru for the last five years. Some time back, he had returned home on account of ill health. After getting treated and recovering, he left home about a month later with the stated purpose of going to Bengaluru and working at a hotel. Thereafter, the family members had not been able to contact him. When the owner of the hotel was contacted, he said that Sarvotham had not come back for work. The family had not lodged any missing complaint with the police, hoping that he would soon establish contact with them.

The decomposed mortal remains were found in a cashew thicket belonging to Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation. A jerkin, bag and footwear he had worn were found lying nearby. Police suspect that he would have died about three weeks back. Some locals who entered the thicket saw the body and alerted the police.

Station house officer of rural police station here, Sridhar Naik, obtained a statement from the family members of the deceased. A case of suicide stands registered at rural police station in the town.
