Australia's Smith stands down as captain over ball tampering

Sydney, Mar 25 (Reuters): Australia's Steve Smith and David Warner have stepped down as captain and vice-captain following the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, Cricket Australia said in a statement on Sunday.

Wicketkeeper Tim Paine, 33, would step in as acting captain for the remainder of the ongoing third test against South Africa, CA added.

Smith said he was embarrassed and took responsibility for the actions of his side after they were charged with attempting to change the condition of the ball on Saturday but he will not be stepping down as skipper.

Opening batsman Cameron Bancroft, 25, the most junior member in the side, was the player charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for trying to change the condition of the ball using sticky tape and grit from the pitch.

Aussie Captain also admitted in press that he and his entire team leadership knew of the plan in advance except the coaches. In this scenario all culprits should be banned for life od at least cor certain long period. IPL frenchasires also need to be step up for the same. Arrogant Australian cricketers always been given special exemption interm of such violation unlike to the rest of cricketers.

Guys, when BJPians were all excited and rejoicing with BJP forming government in Meghalaya, Manipur, Goa etc. inspite of not getting the majority vote then BJPians and others too were giving big sermons with various comments as follows :
    "a win is a win"
    and
    "jo jeeta wohi Sikandar"
    and
    "loser must accept defeat gracefully"
    and
"haarkar jeetne walo ko baazigar kehte hai"

Well now I read people giving lectures about Australia cheating in cricket and how bad cheating is. Friends, cheating anywhere, whether in politics or any sphere of life is cheating and WINNING BY CHEATING IS NOT A WIN and persons losing to cheaters need not accept defeat, gracefully or otherwise and can walk with their heads up high !!!

Illegally altering the condition of the cricket ball is a big offense hitherto involved in a game called Gentleman’s game. Never imagined a team representing Australia, for that matter representing any other cricket playing nation involving and bringing disrepute to the game. As a cricket fan, hugely disappointed…

The per-meditated blatant cheating is not acceptable in any format of modern days hard fought cricket matches. This goes to show that " Winning comes at any cost"!
Smith and co. this was not needed....
