Mumbai, Apr 9: The Kannada department of Mumbai University released a PhD thesis by Dr Poornima S Shetty, assistant professor of Kannada at Mumbai University on the achievements of Mumbai Kannadigas. Retired Supreme Court judge, Justice B N Srikrishna released the thesis.

Mumbai University Kannada department head Dr G N Upadhya chaired the programme. Retired police officer Prakash B Bhandary, Billavara Association Mumbai president Nithyananda D Kotian, Rajyotsava awardee economic expert Dr R K Shetty, Kannadiga Patrakartara sangha Maharashtra president Chandrashekar Palethady, social worker Mudradi Diwaker Shetty, Sudhaker Shetty and Sweekrithi were on the dais.



Karnataka Sangha Mumbai honorary chief secretary Dr Bharathkumar Polipu introduced the book.

Guests took part in the convocation programme. Dr G N Shamala Prakash, Tere Sarojini Bhasker, H P Sheela, Jyothishree Bengaluru, Anitha Shetty, Kumuda Alva and Hemalatha S Ameen were awarded PhD.

Sushila S Devadiga sang a welcome song. Nalina Prasad welcomed everyone, introduced the guests and compered the programme.

Somashekar Malti Patil thanked the gathering.
