Mangaluru Apr 12: The police have registered false cases against my brother Shivaprasad, a conspiracy backed by political intention, claimed his brother Sushanth Shetty here on April 12 at a press meet.
It may be recalled that Shivaprasad from Kinnigoli was arrested on March 24 for no reason
Sushanth Shetty said, "On March 24, my brother Shivaprasad was arrested from Kundapur by Mangaluru North anti-rowdy squad for no reason. From March 24 to 28 he was kept in detention at Panambur Police station illegally. But on March 28 a theft case was registered against Shivaprasad. Later it took political turn when gram panchayath member Eshwar Kateel claimed that Shivaprasad was involved in hatching his murder. As per the police documents there was no mention of any such incident.
He further alleged that his brother was framed in a fake case by Eshwar Kateel. “Shivaprasad and I were active BJP members. Earlier my brother had altercation with Kateel’s friend which ended in assault. Hence, out of grudge, a theft was registered at Bajpe police station against my brother. We were deeply hurt by the false allegations of theft and we decided to move out from the BJP. Eshwar Kateel out of grudge hatched a conspiracy to arrest my brother Shivaprasad,” he alleged.
He further said, "When Shivaprasad had come to court to appear for the earlier case, Eshwar Kateel informed police about it. When the Police reached the court Shivaprasad had already left to Kundapur where he was arrested. CCTV footage shows that he was arrested on March 24, then how theft case was filed against him on March 28. The whole case has been manipulated. Just to gain political mileage Eshwar Kateel hatched a conspiracy to arrest my brother on a fake case,” he alleged.
"We have given CCTV footage to the court which shows that my brother was arrested on March 24. And we will also meet Police Commissioner T R Suresh seeking justice in this regard,” said Sushanth.
Mother of Shivaprasad, Vijayalakshmi, Neighbour Hemalatha, Sudharshan and Nitesh were present.
