Bengaluru, May 13: BJP chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa has said that he will give in writing that his party will win more than 120 seats and form the government.
"My calculations have never gone wrong. I have been in politics for long and travelled across the state. You can verify the figures, I have given once the results are out," Yeddyurappa expressed confidence while speaking to reporters on Sunday.
He also said that the exit-poll prediction by political analysts that Karnataka will have a hung assembly is wrong. Congress won’t be able to cross 70 seats and JD(S) will not get more than 25 seats. He further added that public anger against Siddaramaiah and a strong wave supporting BJP will result in his party getting at least 125 to 130 seats.
Yeddyurappa who is confident about his win had also declared that he will take oath as the chief minister on May 17, even before the elections. Even on Sunday he told reporters that he is in touch with Amit Shah and PM Modi, and is ready to form the government on May 17.
Siddaramaiah had ridiculed Yeddyurappa’s confidence and called him as a "dreamer" and "mentally disturbed". Yeddyurappa had snapped back saying "Siddaramaiah’s time is over".
The state BJP chief on Saturday had tweeted BJP is heading towards landslide victory. "Thank you Karnataka! Gratitude to the people of Karnataka for voting in large numbers today. @BJP4Karnataka is headed towards a landslide victory with all your blessings and support!" he tweeted.
Yeddyurappa said that only one exit-poll predictions is right. Times Now-Chanakya suggested the BJP will win 120 seat and five others predicted that BJP will be the single largest party.
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah does not seem to be affected by the exit poll predictions. He called the exit poll opinions as "entertainment for the next two days". He asked his workers to "relax and enjoy the weekend" and ended with "we are coming back" on Twitter.
Siddaramaiah today has completed five years as the Chief Minister. "I took charge as CM on 13th May 2013. Today I complete 5 years. As I look back on the 5 years I feel a deep sense of fulfilment. I do have a list of things we could do better; & a list of things that we need to do. I am looking forward to your love & support for doing more" he tweeted.
