Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 24: In an unfortunate incident which happened in an apartment complex at Vas Lane in the city, a boy who was confined inside a lift lost his life.

The boy who died in this case has been identified as Muhammed Sinan (7), son of a couple from Addur, Bantwal.

Reports said that the lift of the apartment is old.

It is said that at around 7 pm on Thursday, Sinan's mother was preparing to go out with the three kids. When she was locking the door of the flat, Sinan suddenly entered the lift that was in the first floor. Within seconds since the boy entered the lift, the door of the lift got closed, and the lift moved down. The boy's head got stuck in the gap of the lift and he cried for help, it is learnt. Although the people forced the lift door open and brought the boy out, he had breathed his last by then, it is said.

Kadri police visited the spot and registered a case.

Parents or the guardians of minor children are equally responsible for the acts or misdoings of their wards, the Management comes next until and unless the faults or inappropriate working of any machinery is being notified to the Management as such and they fail to get rectified in time. None can absolve both.

It’s common in apartments children play with lifts and parents become mute spectators, when we advice them they hurl abuses at us. I had very bad experience in the past . Ninde bapa lift la , they say like this and more , sometimes I can’t understand!

They are not safety free. Dangerous
In order to save money, builders... Kill residents of flats. So many incidents happen in mangalore. Only fewer in media. Mcc... Just listen nd shut its mouth, when money poured.
If Mcc loved once trapped such a way... Will they treat same way.
Its time... From mayor to corporator evaluation of Mcc apartments lift inspection nd safety of flats other issues.

Do not ever put ur hands between the closing doors of the modern lift. Most of the time the sensors will fail to recognize your hands and you will have no time to react.
The lift will start moving towards the intended direction leaving you amputated forever or may even cause instant death.

Kindly do not risk your life.

The limit switches(safety),which senses the door closing might not be working.Lifts must be maintained periodically by means of (AMC)Annual Maintenance Contract to avoid such accidents.
    RIP to the departed.

We Indians only react when things go terribly wrong.
We never learn to be proactive like the developed countries.
It is sad we don't even make an effort to learn from others and progress.
It's the same in roads, construction work, electricity related, lifts and so on.
We trust in God and put the blame on him when things go wrong.

These modern gadgets, equipments, cars and other tools requires us to be attentive and cautious ..We as Indians have a very casual attitude in these matters and throw caution to wind,
All said and done ..accident do occur.
Let the boys family find strength to over come this sad loss of their child.

Wish it was modern! The lift was a manual one with the grilled door that easily trapped the boy. It wouldn't happen if the new lift with sensors and close/open type would be installed. That too - VasLane? Heart of the city apartments should have upgraded. My heart goes out to the family and the manner of the accident. RIP little Angel.

Maybe the building society should be booked for negligence ..I do not know what law applies ..
The laws should be clear and concise without any ambiguity ..Local authorities should periodically conduct compliance audits ..(without corruption) and the chain events of such audits should be logged and recorded in digital formats and should be available during investigation to pin point the erring authority and put him behind bars.

True. Safety is very very poor
Be it lifts, roads or for electricity department personnel. Building workers climb up scaffoldings without safety belts. I have seen falling down a person. We are much behind other developing countries.
When will our government make our buses user friendly for commuters? Look at those steps, many people cannot climb up those huge steps.
