Bengaluru, Aug 29: City central crime branch (CCB) police, who interrogated Chandan Shetty of Bigg Boss fame, who was in the radar after complaint was filed against him for singing a song glorifying ganja consumption, sent him away with a warning on Tuesday August 28.
Chandan said during the questioning that he had sung this song as the film concerned was meant to give to the society a message against drugs. He said at the time he sang the song, he had no idea about it being either controversial or giving wrong message. He is said to have tendered apology for the same.
Chandan arrived at the CCB office at Chamarajpet at 2 pm and presented himself before the assistant commissioner of police of the anti drugs unit. He confessed that he had sung the controversial song three years back by collecting honorarium of Rs 5,000. "The film for which I sang this song has not been released so far. I had not uploaded this to the Youtube. Someone else has done so. So I will request them to delete the video," he stated.
In an open video, Chandan has requested those who have uploaded the song to immediately delete it. He also asked the police to exercise their right if there is a provision for them to delete it. He told his fans that songs are meant for entertainment and urged them not to get attracted towards drugs on the basis of his song. He said he will sing a separate song to alert the people against the risks of drug abuse, and get the same released through the police.
