Bengaluru, Sep 22: Former chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa, referring to complaint made by the chief minister and JD(S) leaders to the Assembly Speaker, accusing BJP of indulging in horse trading, termed it as a wrong move.
"JD(S) has failed to address the growing dissatisfaction within its coalition partner, Congress. It is wrong in holding BJP responsible for its internal conflicts. The leaders of the coalition government have often accused BJP leaders of trying to woo their MLAs towards BJP. On the other hand, these leaders have tried to snatch BJP legislators including Subhash Guttedar," he said.
Yeddyurappa asserted that his party leaders have never tried to attract Congress or JD(S) leaders into their party."If the current government collapses, it is because of its own mistakes and internal pressures," he felt.
He felt that JD(S) leaders lack knowledge about legal provisions. He reminded the government that when a government fails in its duties, it is up to the opposition to hold protests. He said that JD(S), on some silly pretext, has accused BJP of indulging in horse trading, which action he questioned and condemned. "Right from Veerappa Moily tape scandal, several scandals involving Congress leaders have come out. On many occasions, Deve Gowda had lamented in the presence of people that the then Manmohan Singh government was saved by snatching the then MP from Chamarajanagar," he added.
Yeddyurappa said that having a strength of 104 in the state assembly, BJP has been discharging its duties as a responsible opposition party and supporting the government in development activities. "BJP never tries to destabilise the government. But if the government fails to address problems in the state and neglects development initiatives, as an opposition party, we cannot remain mute spectators," he said.
