Puttur: Man trying to catch fish with fishing line washed away

Puttur, Oct 10: Uppinangady police received  a report from Sadananda, a local, that a person who had been fishing in River Netravati with a fishing line was washed away after the water level increased in the river and he could not withstand the draught of the river water.

Some people were fishing near Valalu hanging bridge in Bajathur village on Monday October 8 evening.  A person whose identity was not known to the people present there, went to the middle of the river and dropped his fishing line. He was returning to the bank after dropping the line when suddenly water level in the rive began to rise. Sadananda said that the man suddenly disappeared after having been washed away due to the rush of water.

In the meantime, Sivashankar from Rekhya in Beltangady taluk complained to Uppinangady police , informing them that his father, Sheena (55), had disappeared since Monday.
