Kasargod, Oct 10: In an incident which happened here, a businessman had been kidnapped through honeytrap with the help of a lady. After holding him captive, a demand for huge amount by way of ransom was made. A person named C K Anwar (40), said to be the person who masterminded the entire operation, stands arrested. Anwar is a resident of Permbra Vadakumbat Kapumale. With his arrest, the total arrests in the case has risen to six.

The gang, with help of a lady from Manantawadi, had trapped the said businessmen. The businessmen had responded to the call made by the lady and visited Manantawadi on July 16. The accused abducted him from there in a car, held him under house arrest in a lodge at Ponnambetta in Karnataka, and demanded ransom of Rs 15 lac from him. They also tortured him by spraying chilli powder in his eyes in pursuance of their demand. Although they snatched away his ATM card and tried to withdraw money, they did not succeed. At the end, they released the man after collecting Rs 1.5 lac which he had arranged through a friend living in Kannur.

Anwar, who has been arrested in the case, already faces a case of rape in Malappuram police station, as well as atrocity and fraud cases in Chammangad police stations, the policemen said.
