Moodbidri, Oct 11: Forest officials have arrested two thieves while stealing and taking away logs of sandalwood at Mavinakatte, Paladka on Tuesday night. They confiscated their bike and recovered the sandalwood from them. Their accomplice has fled.
The arrested accused are Handelu resident Hassan Bava and Kanchibail resident Ramesh.
Forest officials Ashwin Gatty and Manjunath on duty at Kadandale who grew suspicious intercepted the bike and questioned the suspects when the theft came to light.
The operation was conducted in the leadership of forest official Prakash Poojary by forest guards Raju, Sandeep, Basavaraj and others.
