Bangalore: Christians Criticise Apathy

DHNS

Bangalore, Jan 8: The State and Central Governments were severely criticised for their failure to protect minorities, at an awareness programme organised by the Global Council for Indian Christians.

Delegates present at the event demanded action against the District Commissioner of Davangere, where several churches were attacked.

The programme was attended by former MP and Union Minister of State Margaret Alva.  Margaret Alva was critical of the state government’s apathy towards the victims of the recent violence against Christians in Karnataka. “What’s happening in Kandhamal are the severest forms of violence against humanity,” said Mrs Alva, referring to the violence against Christians in Orissa. She criticised the Orissa state government for its lack of will to punish those involved in crimes against Christians.
