Mangaluru: Corporation officials conduct raids - lock up shop without documents

Mangaluru, Feb 6: Officials of the city corporation here conducted raids on several shops and stalls which have been carrying on with their business without renewing trade licences. A shop in Kodialbail which was being run without any permission was locked up.

Chairman of standing committee on taxation, finance, and appeals on taxes, Radhakrishna and city corporation commissioner, Mohammed Nazeer, led the team of officials. The team visited a shop in Kodialbail and three more in Attavar where it verified documents. It issued warning notices to businesses not possessing trade licence, and records for having paid property tax and water charges till date, asking them to pay the same within a week. Warning was also issued to the shopkeepers of locking their shops if their trade licences are not immediately renewed.
