Bengaluru, Feb 7: The state high court (HC), on Wednesday February 6, issued stay against the first information report registered against Samputa Narasimha Swamy Subrhamanya Math in Subrahmanya police station and further probe into the allegation contained in the complaint till further order. The complaint accuses Subrahmanya Math of cheating the devotees by offering services in the name of Kukke Subrahmanya temple.

Judge of the HC, Justice Aravind Kumar, who head an application, moved by R Santosh, executive officer of Samputa Narasimha Swamy Subrhamanya Math and Samputa Trust, conducted hearing and ordered stay against further investigation.

At the same time, it ordered issuance of notices to defendants, Subrahmanya police station and executive officer of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, before adjourning the hearing. Advocate, Arun Shyam, presented arguments on behalf of the petitioner.

Through a civil suit filed in Sullia JMFC court, managing committee of Kukke Subrahmanya temple had alleged that religious rituals like Sarpa Samskara, Ashelesha Bali and others which are being offered at Kukke Sri Subahmanya temple were being offered without proper authorization in Subrahmanya Math. The committee had also felt that this would affect the income of the temple. A case alleging that devotees were being cheated by performing puja at the Math, a police complaint was registered in Subrahmanya police station on November 17, 2018.
