Mangaluru: MLA Sanjeev Matandoor says ‘nothing’ for DK district in state budget

Mangaluru, Feb 10: Puttur MLA Sanjeev Matandoor on Saturday, February 9 said that that Dakshina Kannada district got only ice candy in the state budget which was presented by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Addressing media here, Matandoor said, “During the budget, Dakshina Kannada district was neglected. We have 7 MLAs here and district got only ice candy out of the state budget. There was no fund allocation for areca growers who are facing Kole Roga which affect areca. Fund has not been allocated for fishermen, and for construction of fishing jetties and other development works in fishing sector.

“The then chief minister Siddaramaiah had mentioned about Paschima Vahini project in the last budget, but it was neglected this time. Even for Jaladhare scheme, funds have been not allocated for the district.

“During budget, there was mention of knowledge health corridor for the district, but they have failed to mention the plans and allocation of funds,” he said.
