Bantwal: 'Campco is willing to train 30 women at a time to climb arecanut trees'

Bantwal, Feb 10: “Campco is willing to specially train 30 women to climb Arecanut trees if they desire,” said Capco president S R Sathishchandra. He was speaking after presiding over concluding programme of Arecanut training camp held by Campco, ICIR-CPCRI, Shivamogga agriculture and horticulture university, department of horticulture, all India Arecanut growers association, Adike newspaper and Arecanut research and development foundation held at CPCRI premises, Vitla on Friday, February 8.

CPCRI director Dr Anitha Karun who distributed identity cards to camp participants said that while CPCRI conducts research on Areca plantations, Campco is working towards Areca market and all round development of its growers. DCC bank director Shashikumar Balyottu who distributed certificates to the participants said that such camps should be also held in rural areas with the cooperation of cooperative associations. Kasargod Peradala service cooperative bank president Jayadev Khandige distributed insurance policies. Perla C A bank president Venkatramana Bhat, progressive farmer Badanaje Shanker Bhat and Manchi Srinivas Achar were on the dais. Campco vice president, Camp director Shankernarayan Bhat spoke about the camp. Participants Navin Prakash Ujire, Shivaprasad Aletti, Sandeep, Sachin C and Govindaraj expressed their opinions.

Adike newspaper editor Sripadre welcomed and gave an introductory address. ARDF executive officer Dr Keshava Bhat proposed vote of thanks. Campco company staff Kishna Pallattadka compered the programme.
