Kundapur, Jan 27: Speaking at a press conference held here on Monday January 26, local MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty denied that he had brought pressure on the officials through the home minister to regularize land documents after buying land having improper title from a man named Ravishankar Shetty within the Bangalore City limits, as reported in a section of the press, specifically a daily and a weekly being published from Bangalore.

He also made clear his decision to approach the court of law for the damage his reputation has suffered by the above reports, and also move the legislature for breach of privilege. "I have been deeply pained at the publication of unfounded reports about me in the media. I do not have any dealings in Bangalore. Still, how can these publications justify their action in alleging that I am involved with irregularities running into crores of rupees and bringing pressure on the home minister to initiate action against officials who did not cooperate with me in setting right the irregularities?," he questioned.

"I have applied for the sites under the allotment scheme for legislatures, but am yet to receive allotment. Where is this land about which allegations of crores of rupees have been leveled against me?  Since the last nine years I have been a legislator. Neither me nor any of my office staff have received any money even for the party fund or electoral expenses. If any one proves that I have received money for these activities, I will retire from public life," he declared.

"I have contacted the home minister only relating to the development of my constituency and have never interfered in matters pertaining to any activities relating to outside my constituency. I want to reiterate that I aim at leading as much clean life as possible. I am deeply disturbed over the use of my name in cases not at all relating to me. I hereby urge the heads of all the publications in the state to conduct a transparent inquiry into all these allegations and bring out an objective report about them," the MLA requested.  “At the same time, I will try to get justice from all angles including the court of the people,” he said.
