Mangaluru, Feb 13: Stany Bela and Avanthika Kamath, young writers from the city will represent Konkani in National Level Youth Literary fest (West) patronised by Kendra Sahitya Academy. The two-day literary fest will be held on February 24 and 25 at Sahitya Academy Mandir, Dadar, Mumbai.

Kamal Hora, renowned Gujarathi writer, will inaugurate the event while M S Patil, senior Marathi writer will preside over the inaugural programme.

Avanthika Kamath will present her short stories in Konkani in the session 'Kahani Patth' while Stany Bela will present his poems on February 25 in the session 'Kavya Patth'. Young writers from Urdu, Marathi, Gujarati and Hindi will also take part in this event. From Goa, Avita Ajay Goankar will represent Konkani.

Stany Bela, Avanthika Kamath

Born in 1983, Stany Bela graduated from Kannur University and presently works as a journalist for Daijiworld Media situated in Mangaluru. Basically, he is known for analytical articles, short stories and poems in Konkani. He was awarded Leo Rodrigues Family Kittall Yuva Puroskar (Youth Award) in 2014. He is also an editorial board member of 'Arso', Konkani monthly. He has participated in a number of Kavigoshtis which were in various parts of Karnataka, Kerala and UAE. He has also worked as an associate director of Konkani movie ‘Ek Aslyar Ek Na'. His directorial Konkani serial 'Mrs Meena and Family' is being currently telecasted on Daijiworld 24*7 TV.

Residing at Matadakani, Mangaluru, Avanthika Kamath is known for short stories in Konkani world. Through her blog, ‘Out of the Blue’, she publishes articles about various life experiences, observations and her views on different topics not defined by any particular genre. Her many short stories are published in various Konkani periodicals and magazines. Currently, she is pursuing third year of Engineering in the department of Biotechnology at Institute of Technology, Nitte.
