Mangaluru: Case of misusing government facilities with fake caste certificate

Mangaluru, Feb 13: A case stands registered in the city (south) police station relating to misusing the government facility with the help of false caste certificate.

As per the complaint, M Shivanathan, resident of Gurunagara, Mary HIll, had obtained false caste certificate by claiming himself to be a member of Bovi community which falls under sccheduled castes. It is said that he actually belongs to Naidu caste. The said certificate was obtained on April 3, 2017.

On the basis of this certificate, it is said that Shivanathan had utilized government facility reserved for persons belonging to scheduled castes and tribes, to the detriment of genuine beneficiaries belonging to this caste. He has also been accused of cheating the government.

The case was registered in the city (south) police station after which it is being investigated by the regional office of civil rights enforcement directorate here, said superintendent of police of civil rights enforcement directorate.
