Raichur, Feb 13: After it was proved that Abhishek Nadagouda, son of animal husbandry minister, Venkatrao Nadagouda, had taken into possession 21 acres of land belonging to a family which had migrated to Pakistan, the regional commissioner, in his verdict, ordered the land to be taken back by the government. In this connection, there has been increasing demand for the resignation of the minister from his post.

R Manasayya, leader of CPI (ML) red star party, who had complained about irregularities in encroaching the said land by the minster's son through Benami transaction, released documents about the case on Tuesday. The order was passed by regional commissioner, Subodh Yadav.

Manasayya said that fake documents created by the minister's son and some other influential persons have proved that they had connived to gobble up 84.03 acres of land worth several crores of rupees located in survey No. 1359/2 and 1362/1 in the city outskirts. He said that Abhishek Nadagouda had planned to annexe 21 out of 84.03 acres of the said land, as proved by the records. He exhibited a copy of the order passed by the regional commissioner, who found that the land had been illegally encroached upon.

The land belonged to Khaji Mohammed Abdul Rasool Siddiqui and others, who shifted base to Pakistan in 1947 during partition. In cases where the owners of the land are not the citizens of the country, it should have been vested with the government. But a person named Mohammed Mehbub Ali Naib, who claimed himself to be the general power of attorney holder, said he was also the real inheritor of the property. In 2011, he registered general power of attorney in the name of some local political leaders. They, within four months, sold 21 acres of land to Abhishek Nadagouda, who happens to be the son of a minster, Basavaraj Sakri, Kadagolu Anjenaya, Shivanand Chuiukki Sirwar and Sudha Uday Kumar, the complaint filed with the regional commissioner had pointed out.
