Mangaluru: Omni driver dies after smashing into stationary truck

Mangaluru, Feb 14: After a Maruti Omni van plowed into a stationary truck at around 1.45 am on Wednesday February 13, the Omni driver lost his life. The accident happened on national highway 66 near Kuntikan in the city.

The deceased happened to be Oliver Raj Sequeira (45) from Permude near Bajpe, who also owned the Omni.

Oliver was into truck business. He was heading toward Pumpwell when the accident happened. A Maharashtra registration truck that had developed some problem was standing on the road, and the Omni smashed into the truck from behind. It is said that the truck did not have any red light or other warning signs for oncoming vehicles at the time of the accident. The Omni van with Oliver inside, directly hit the truck.

Police personnel of traffic (west) station here registered a case.
