Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Feb 12: The body of a woman named Prema Shetty (35) from Dasanakatte of Nallkur-Miyyalu was found in the wee hours of Wednesday February 11, floating in the well in the compound of her home.

The lady was washing clothes at the platform erected adjacent to the well in the afternoon of Tuesday. Those who came searching for her, found some blood stains on the platform. It was found that the backside of her head had been hit with a scythe. A golden chain she was wearing, valued at about Rs 35,000 has gone missing. It is guessed that the murder was either to steal the chain or to settle an existing enmity over property dispute.

Krishnaiah Shetty, husband of Prema has sought justice. He feels that an attempt is being made to cover up the murder of his wife, as he hails from a poor family. Prema's brothers too echo his opinion and assert that it was not an accident but murder.

Hebri police have registered a case and started investigations. Post mortem of the body was conducted at Hebri community health centre, before releasing it to the family. However, no one is as yet sure, about the objective behind the murder.
