Kundapur, Feb 14: "The JD(S) has decided to face the next Loksabha election along with some important parties which form part of the Third Front. There is no question of striking an alliance with the Congress," asserted H D Kumaraswamy, former chief minister and JD(S) state president.

He was addressing a press conference, during his visit to Kundapur Hattiangady Lord Siddivinayak temple on Thursday February 12.

Denying the rumours that he had held a secret meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi recently, he accused some Congress leaders of indulging in malicious propaganda for confusing the JD(S) ranks. He added that personally, he is not in favour of contesting the election this time, as he has to work for the success of all the 28 candidates of the party, being the state unit president of his party.

"The government, which has been spending money for keeping the Maths and such other entities happy, is not caring for the basic problems faced by citizens. The government is not in order in trying to present a budget in a hurry. It has failed even to achieve 40% of the proposals of the previous budget and therefore should bring out a white paper on the achievements made on the last budget, before presenting a budget this time," he demanded.

Udupi district JD(S) president Deviprasad Shetty, vice president Geetanjali Suvarna, Womens Unit president Shalini B Shetty Kenchanur and several other leaders were present at the press conference.
