Mangalore: Seetaram Seeks Rs 1 Crore Compensation

The Hindu

Mangalore, Feb 20: B.V. Seetaram, chairman and managing director of Chitra Publications Ltd., which publishes the daily “Karavali Ale”, has sought a compensation of Rs. 1 crore from the State Government.

In a letter to the Chairman of the Press Council of India, New Delhi, Mr. Seetaram requested the council to award compensation towards the loss his organisation has suffered due to “dent in circulation” owing to the “Sangh Parivar attacks” on the newspaper vendors.

Alleging that the attacks had continued on the distribution network of the newspaper, he said, “The situation has not improved for us. Even though we have specifically mentioned key conspirators behind the attack, the police have not touched them because they are close to the powers that be in the Bharatiya Janata Party dispensation.”

He added that his organisation would have been spared the ordeal had the Government taken steps to curb lawless elements.
