Mangalore, Feb 20: A seminar was held on the occasion of Founder’s Day of Karnataka Bank at the central office auditorium of the Bank on Wednesday February 18.

Speaking on the occasion, Dharmastala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said the self-confidence of the farmers will get a boost with increased level of trust reposed on them by the bankers. Changes in society can be brought about only if the farmers, who form the majority, are able to meet their e expectations, he explained.

Providing banking services to people living in nooks and corners of the country is a challenge banks are faced with at present Most of the villages still do not have bank branches. The country’s progress is possible only if the farmers are able to get banking facility at their door steps. The confidence present in a person having a bank account is high as compared to others. It also inspires him to become independent, he said.

The government too implements various schemes aimed at achieving economic progress of the masses, through banks, he noted.
At present India compared with the outside world for its pace of progress, but at the same time, it continues be a country of the poor who lack basic facilities, Heggade pointed out.

There are people who lack clean drinking water, healthy food and health services. Hence the financial progress of the poor should be given top priority so that these problems get solved and the imbalances present in the country will set right, he hoped.

Anantakrishna, chairman, Karnataka Bank, presided over the function.

Jayaram Bhat, chief general manager, welcomed the gathering.
