Udupi: Gold Jewellery Worth Rs 4.5 Lac Stolen from Home

Udupi, Feb 21: Thieves made away with 36 sovereigns of gold jewellery from the house of C R Acharya, located opposite Indira Shiva Rao Polytechnic, Kadiyali, on Thursday February 19 night.

Sources informed that the thieves got inside the house by bending the iron rods of the bathroom window on Thursday night and decamped with the jewellery worth around Rs 4.50 lac.  

The theft was committed without disturbing the sleeping family. The broken window panes and bent iron rods in the bathroom were noticed by the family only at 9.00 am on Friday February 20.  Town police arrived on the spot with sniffer dogs. 

Police have registered a case in this regard.  Town sub-inspector Latha B K, superintendent or police Praveen Madhukar Pawar, assistant superintendent of police Kashinath, and deputy superintendent of police Vishwanath Pandit, visited the spot.
