Bantwal: Limericks Convention Held at Sharada High School

“Mere penning for fun can not be considered as limericks.  The success in the field of limericks will be assured if attempts are made to convey the absurdities one sees in society,” said taluk fourth limericks convention president Ganesh Prasad Pandelu. 
 
Ganesh Prasad was delivering his presidential address at the fourth limerick literary convention that was held on Sunday March 8 at Sharada High School, Panemangalore near here.
 
“Although teenagers’ literature comprise mostly of love and romance, we will have to discharge our duties towards them as part of the society.  We will have to make an effort to understand the complexity of societal issues and unite the society by stemming the rots of casteism and other social evils.  We should become the voice of the poor and oppressed classes,” he said while emphasizing that limericks should become the crusaders of change.
 


Veteran litterateur Erya Laxminarayan Alva inaugurated the limerick convention.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that advised litterateurs not to get restricted to one form of literature.  One should try his hands in all forms of literature without restricting to limericks, he opined.
 
Karavali Group of Colleges founder chairman Ganesh Rao presided over the inaugural ceremony. 
 
Chutuku Sahitya Parishat Mysore central committee chief convener Dr M G R Aras released ‘Vindhya Bareda Kategalu’, at the venue.
 
Mysore district Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president Ratna Halappa Gowda released ‘Mini Jnana Kosha’ book.
 
National award recipient teacher Sharada S Rao was the chief guest of the occasion. 
 
Lecturer V Subramanya Bhat delivered the key note address.
 
Taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishat president Sudha Nagesh welcomed the gathering.  Teacher Jayanand Peraje delivered introductory address.  Sharada High School head master S R Patwardan read the foreword of books. 
 
Rama S Bhandary compered the programme.  Teacher Vidya Saraswati proposed vote of thanks.
