Puttur: Shakuntala Shetty Challenges DVS to Contest from Mangalore

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Mar 11: "The BJP which came to power on the basis of some set policies and principles has deviated from its ideologies and moving towards filthy politics. This has created heart-burn among the sincere BJP workers and leaders," said Swabhimani Vedike president and ex-MLA Shakuntala Shetty.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday March 10, Shetty said D V Sadanand Gowda has escaped to Udupi constituency from Mangalore, being apprehensive of a massive backlash from the Swabhimani Vedike, which is out to cleanse the BJP of its evils. "Let him contest from Mangalore if he has the guts to face the workers of this constituency," she challenged.

"Swabhimani Vedike is being built on the lines of the erstwhile Jan Sangh. The Vedike will provide shelter to the sincere and honest workers of the BJP. State leaders like Basavaraj Patil Yetnal, Mallikarjunaiah and B B Shivappa, who are fed up by the lack of principles in the present BJP leadership, have pledged support to the Vedike," she explained.

Shetty said that the Vedike is sure to field a candidate from Udupi too, as the workers there have mounted pressure on the leadership to do so.
